Turning 65. And Knowing Santa.

Standard

The count down began a few days ago till Tuck’s 5th birthday this Friday.

Excuse me. Fivesday.

Everyday leading up to then, we let him do something that he finds exciting and one of those simple things is crossing the days off the calendar during this count down. Tuck thinks 5 is like getting his driver’s license and I am seriously feeding off his thrill. Sunday I made a bee line to town with him to purchase new “Flippies” His interpretaiton of sandals.

And in true Tucker form this went down in the summer aisle at Academy.

Tuck to an unsuspecting elderly couple-

HI! My name is Tuck! What’s your name? How old are you? I’m almost 5. It’s a big deal. I’m big now. On Fivesday. Are you 65? Why you have white hair? Do you know Santa?

You can dress ‘em up but you can’t take ‘em out as my Mama would say. Thankfully he’s never met a stranger on his life long dream of presidency and the only draw back to his cheerful outgoing personality is the occasional shy kid he bombards and leaves them clinging to their parents legs in fear of the boisterous talking boy.

Today I plan on letting him loose in the dollar store. It would seem pretty lame to an adult, but for whatever reason, and I think most parents would agree, that to a kid holding 5 bucks in your hand and Mama letting the reigns out a bit is pure satisfaction into the big world of turning 5.

He’s come a long way in 5 years. Since THIS hot squishy mess on his 1st birthday.

What are some traditions you do with your little ones the week or day of their birthdays?
Have a great Monday everyone!

Xoxo

  1. Fivesday!! That’s a huge day!! We celebrate the ‘birthday week’ too – and I love the Dollar Store idea – to a child that is mega…and your Tuck has a mega-mommy..He is truly a delicious little guy..

  2. What a cutie, though it’s tough for us mommies watching their babes grow up and away a little each day. When mine were young, I’d always decorate the house and make their favorite dinner and birthday cake. Dollar store shopping spree…what a fabulous idea! :)
